As far as I can remember I’ve always liked the colour red – dark red, blood red – despite all the connotations it has accumulated throughout the years. But it wasn’t always right to declare your love for red, and sometimes I would conceal it from the other children.
My girlfriends preferred pink or yellow and the boys liked blue or green. Black, red and purple were outcast colours, nobody liked them, at least not in public. So once, succumbing to peer pressure, I even said that I liked blue, but the lie didn't last long since the following question was: what kind of blue? To that question I couldn't improvise...
